Polling Day

Today is D-day. It's the day where 2 million Singaporeans go to the polling centres to exercise their rights to vote.

I went to my designated polling centre at about 2 plus in the afternoon. By address, the polling centre is just in front of my house. But of course, since I'm staying at my Sis house, I had to take the MRT and then the feeder bus to reach the place. Ironically, the place I'm currently staying (Sembawang) is not under Sembawang GRC. Some strange boundary drawings they have there. Anyway, the whole process was a breeze for me. There's not even a queue for me. Seeing photos of queues my FB friends had to go through, I'm glad that I came at the right time. Or probably there's not much residents in that area of mine. lol. I entered through the small gate at the school. Walked another 50-100 metres into the school compound before reaching the polling booths. Took the ballot paper, went to the booth, made my cross and place it into the box. My first ever vote and it lasted only about 5 minutes. I don't even have to queue/wait at all except for the 10 seconds I took to cast my vote at the booth. This whole process reminds me of Survivor though. "Once the votes are read, the decision are final." LOL

Went to the bank on Thursday to make some withdrawal. Even though I had to spend about 30 minutes in the queue, I still do not regret that I don't have an ATM card. Yes, having one will give me convenience. But for me, convenience is also a double edge sword. Once you're too used to this convenience, you may become a spendthrift and end up losing track of what's left in your account. I am fortunate that this very principle has been instilled in me since I was young. And I'm not shy to say that it has also enabled me to save, mostly by my own effort, a good amount in case of a rainy day. Yes, the day will eventually come where I have to apply for the card. But the time is not now. That being said, I realised that I have been spending quite a fair bit the past couple of months. Oh no, it's time to control my expenses! Time to start on some good money management exercises! haha. Oh oh, I saw my favourite bank teller that day. She still looks the same. Too bad she doesn't serve me! What a waste! haha.

Anyway, these two nights will be crucial and exciting nights. Tonight is of course the results of the elections. Whoever, or whichever party, wins, kindly fulfill your campaign promises and deliver them. Make Singapore a better place than it is already now. Tomorrow is the crucial game between Man Utd and Chelsea. If Man Utd win this game, then the league title is effectively Man Utd's with two games to go. If they lose, then the champions will probably only be decided at the last day of the campaign. Fingers crossed that Man Utd will win this game. Glory, glory Man Utd!

I gotta feeling that tonight's gonna be a good night..
