Results and Meet-up

X'mas

Got a couple things to update. First up, is my results for my first semester!

Yup, got to know my first NUS results yesterday morning after 9am. I can say I'm rather satisfied with what I've achieved. Though it wasn't a first class results, it is proportionate to how much effort I've put in. I've got 2As, 2Bs, 1C. The C comes from my Basic Inorganic Chemistry module(unsurprisingly) for which I got a C+!! I really don't like the module but what to do, it's one of the core modules and I guess I just have to try to like it to do better coz there's still another Inorganic module next sem! Arrggghhh! Anyway, a pleasant surprise greeted me when I saw the grade to my other chemistry module. During the mid-terms, my grade was like languishing at the top of the 'hill', or rather the bell-curve. So, to see my results for this module now slid considerably to the right side of the curve was satisfying! My hard-work for the final exams must have paid off! Yeah! That being said, I'll have to better myself next sem and subsequent ones if I want to improve my CAP. Being a lazy bum most of the time, I need to instill the "Hard work is the key to success" saying inside me. As they say, success is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration!

Had a meet-up with my poly gang yesterday which includes ZhiYong, Samantha, Meixuan and Yiting. Left my house at about 1130am(after the excitement of exam results have died down) and drove over to The Cathay to meet up with ZY and Sam to catch an afternoon movie. Not surprisingly, somebody was late! Initially wanted to watch the Journey to the Centre of the Earth show but last minute changed it to Yes Man!! And it was a rather good movie I must say, with Jim Carrey as comical as ever and never looked like growing old! hahaaa... If you have the time and want some laughs, go catch it. I'm giving it 3.5 out of 5 stars!!

After that, we drove over to Marina Square to have a couple games of bowling. It has been a long time since I last bowled and it seems my 'skills' are getting rusty. Got a few strikes and spares but have a few longkangs too! hahaa.. Seeing how other people played flawless balls towards the pins, I recalled how I always wanted to learn how to hook/spin the ball instead of just letting it go the conventional straight way. But nah, I don't think I have the time and money to pick up bowling as a true blue hobby. Let it just be a once-in-a-while kind of activity.

After the bowl, we walked around in the mall and bought an ice-cream each (although I still have not recovered yet). Subsequently, we headed towards Millenia Walk and then to Suntec City to look around and see if there's any nice/suitable place to have our dinner later. We also went to several toys shops, including Toys''r''us and recall our childhood and adolescence times with the toys..hah.. During these times though, I had to visit the toilet a couple of times cos I was having diarrhea-kind of stomachaches. After some time, we headed back to Marina Square to meet Ting and Xuan to have our dinner.

We finally settled on 'Breeks' for our meal. Due to the lack of space to accomodate the seating of the five of us, we had to wait for a while though before we can have our seats and place the orders. For fear of upsetting my stomach again, I subsequently ordered something light: a spaghetti with mushroom cream source and two prawnies. And it was good. Being a first-time customer, I must say that the experience was rather nice, with a friendly service crew. The price was quite reasonable too with the each of us having to pay 20 odd bucks for our meal.

After deliberating on whether to go to the nearby Esplanade area or VivoCity, we decided to head to the latter to have our gifts-exchange. Unknown to us, or at least to me, they're having these nice christmas deco and lightings at the open space on 3rd level. With Yiting's camera in hand, we took peektures with the decorations which includes a gigantic christmas tree, and rain-deers. After many many shots, we then went to a place to have our gift-exchange proper. A la lucky draw style, we had to redo the exchange a couple of times, due to gifts being allocated to the person who brought it. At the end, I received ZY's Billabong Pencil case and my gift went to Yiting. As soon as the last person posed with their present, rain drops on our heads and we hurriedly went back over to the enclosed air-conditioned space in the mall.

Since it was still early (I know Xuan must be mad if she read this.. hahaa!), Ting suggested to go to Mount Faber to continue our phototaking sessions! Since everyone agreed (except for one who keeps wanting to go home.. lol) we took the car and went to the peak. Initially, someone (I won't say who) thought that we could walk from Vivo towards the place!! hahahaa... =X Reach there at about 10 plus (close to 11pm). Had some pictures taken with the Merlion, the tower-which-has-lights that is made out like a christmas tree, and the decorations outside 'The Jewel Box'.

After about an hour or so, we headed out to go home. Or did we? haha.. Sam suggested to have a drink first before going home, much to the frustration of Xuan.. lol.. After it seems that no one can decide on which place to go, I suggested for a place near Clementi since I'll be sending the Westerners back home first later. Al-Azhar along Bukit Timah became the destination. Everyone ordered a drink while Sam, Ting and ZY ate this Tuna Murtabak which they say was super hot with all the chillies!! It was hilarious looking at their funny reactions! hah..

The time then was already half-past midnight as I start to send the gang back home. Surprisingly though, I wasn't feeling sleepy at that time though it has been 12 hours since I've left the house. The last stop was at Sam's house in Hougang and then made my way to the quiet CTE/SLE before reaching the carpark. I stepped into my house at about 2.20am. After some washing up, headed straight to sleep. The tired effect was only felt this morning when I woke up.

I have to say, damage was certainly done to my wallet, for this day alone, which amounts to about 100 bucks in total. However, as we know, money cannot buy/measure true friendships as friendships have no price. Hence, no matter how much have been spent, as long as everyone is happy, it was money well-spent and worth it. I certainly had a great day yesterday and I certainly hope the rest did too!=)

That's it for this longish 1000 words update(If only I could write this long for my essays.. haha). Hopefully, I didn't bore anyone reading this. Pictures to follow once I receive them from Yiting. In the meantime, take care all!
